The issue of land control has become less significant as a basis for social position in urbanized societies placing emphasis on wealth and knowledge. However, land control still remains an issue in rural societies. Culturally, a path to worldwide homogeneity has been caused by the adoption of Western cultural values, consumer goods, and the use of the English language in the business world, as the computer world. Some civilizations have keep their cultures intact, but the friction between modern ideas and traditional ideas has caused problems.(Stearns, 893) (Click here to return to the WebQuest)
