Argentina

Argentina is a very interesting and quite beautiful nation. Though it has suffered economically in the past few years, it is a country with a vast number of natural resources and a strong standing among the Spanish-speeking nations in the region. It's capital city, Buenos Aires, is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Argentina is a nation with promise, but it is also a nation with a history. Its future rest largely on strong cooperation with its neighbors and the continuation of a democratic government.

Following independence from Spain in 1816, Argentina experienced periods of internal political conflict between conservatives and liberals and between civilian and military factions. After World War II, a long period of Peronist authoritarian rule and interference in subsequent governments was followed by a military junta that took power in 1976. Democracy returned in 1983, and numerous elections since then have underscored Argentina's progress in democratic consolidation.  The Argentine flag has centered in the white band is a radiant yellow sun with a human face known as the Sun of May.
